Sensei Waters 5th Dan
Sensei Jeff Waters is the head instructor at Tora Karate Club Quebec Inc.
A student of Karate since 1981, Jeff Waters began his ongoing karate training at the age of 14. His first class was with Sensei Barry Connors, 7th Dan. During the course of his study, he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to train under Sensei Masuru Shintani, 9th Dan. Sensei Shintani personally presented Jeff with Shindo certificate. Shindo is a martial arts weapon developed by Sensei Shintani and widely used in police training today. In his early days, Jeff also had the privilege of studying under Sensei Allan Howell, 7th Dan.
Jeff inherited the Tora Karate Dojo in Pointe Claire in 2000 under the guidance of Sensei Connors who moved to Windsor Ontario in 2001. With the support and assistance of his wife and family, Jeff has kept the Tora banner flying proudly. Tora is under the umbrella of the World Congress of Shintani Karate and Sensei Paul Leonard, 9th Dan.
Jeff’s interests outside of karate include gliding. He is currently an instructor at the Gatineau Gliding Club. He is also a semi-professional guitarist who has enjoyed working in studios and giving live performances. His styles rang from 1950’s rockabilly to Calypso, Reggae, Rock, and Folk.
